  1. I would like to add a comment as an operator: I've seen people use too many times instead of a normal distribution. If there is no type checking and type are not compatible, a cast is better than using the operator when you get an invalid cast exception in the right place, not a null reference exception elsewhere . The code for your second wonder is rather good place for the operator.
